While several Arab nations have banned the organization or designated it as a terrorist entity for many years, Europe continues to allow the Brotherhood to expand its influence, develop extensive networks, and thrive due to what regional experts describe as political and societal naivet\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The Muslim Brotherhood has mastered the mechanisms of democratic societies, according to Emirati officials. The movement has learned to infiltrate institutions, leverage associational structures, develop educational and religious networks, and gradually shape public discourse. While many European leaders approach the issue solely through a security lens, the Brotherhood deploys a far broader strategy of ideological entrenchment and societal influence.<\/p>\n

A Campaign Issue for France in 2027<\/h2>\n

For more than twenty years, the United Arab Emirates has pursued one of the Arab world’s most resolute policies against the Muslim Brotherhood. Nearly fifteen years ago, the country placed the Muslim Brotherhood on its list of terrorist organizations, prosecuted members of Al-Islah, strengthened control over religious institutions, increased surveillance of foreign financing, and adopted comprehensive measures to counter the movement’s influence.<\/p>\n

The contrast between the Arab world’s vigilance and Europe’s permissiveness raises urgent questions about Western resolve in confronting ideological threats that exploit democratic freedoms to advance anti-democratic agendas.<\/p>\n
