A massive Russian strike on the Ukrainian capital has left one of Eastern Orthodoxy’s holiest sites in ruins, sparking international condemnation and fresh accusations of cultural warfare against Christian heritage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Cathedral of the Dormition at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and spiritual symbol of Ukraine, sustained severe damage during a large-scale Russian attack on the night of Monday, June 15, 2026, according to Valeurs Actuelles<\/em>. The Orthodox cathedral’s facade was torn open, its roof partially destroyed, and its interior gutted as portions of the structure collapsed in flames.<\/p>\n

The Ukrainian military reported that Russia launched no fewer than 70 missiles and 611 drones against Ukrainian territory that night, with the majority intercepted before reaching their targets.
