The jersey, manufactured in Poland, has been on sale through the movement’s website for several days.

From Campaign Rallies to Cultural Appropriation

The Mélenchon football jersey is merely the latest in a series of campaign gimmicks from the far-left leader, who has already launched a video game in his movement’s colors. The idea for the June 21st music event reportedly emerged during a La France Insoumise rally in Saint-Denis on June 7th, as Valeurs Actuelles reports. The notable presence of singer Zaho de Sagazan at that gathering allegedly reinforced the party’s determination to leverage culture, traditionally fertile ground for the left, in support of their leader’s campaign.

Before the concerts begin, a “grand march against racism and all forms of discrimination” will take place, organized at the initiative of Saint-Denis mayor Bally Bagayoko.

Militant Lineup Features Radical Artists

The artist roster includes rapper 2L, a finalist on the latest season of Netflix’s Nouvelle École, who promotes what she describes as feminist rap that is political, anti-capitalist, and decolonial in nature. Her lyrical contributions include the profound verse: “If Jordan Bardella ran as fast as I annoy him, he would be so far away.” Such content is presumably designed to energize La France Insoumise’s base.

Also scheduled to perform are rapper Kulturr, French-Algerian DJ Guido, drag queen Malawitte who designs for singer Theodora, along with Dinaa, Leo SVR, La M4nita, Emily Tante, and militant groups KMSN and Zwoin.

Outrage Over Political Seizure of National Celebration

The planned appropriation of a central venue during France’s national Music Festival has sparked condemnation from figures across the political spectrum. Yonathan Arfi, president of the Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions, criticized the takeover of an iconic Music Festival location by a political party on social media. Place de la République represents the beating heart of the Music Festival, he noted, arguing that this symbolic location should not serve as a platform for any political party. According to Arfi, La France Insoumise is using music as a means to advance a political agenda rather than celebrating it as a cultural end in itself.

Socialist mayor of Paris-Centre Ariel Weil voiced similar rejection of the event, stating on X that it is unacceptable to exploit the Music Festival for political purposes. Given the crowds that will fill the streets to dance and sing, he warned, the event poses a danger to public order and security at a time when police forces will already be deployed throughout Paris.

Despite the backlash, La France Insoumise shows no sign of backing down, determined to broadcast its militant message at every available opportunity.

With information from Valeurs Actuelles

Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s far-left party is hijacking France’s June 21st Music Festival for a political rally on Paris’s Place de la République, blending concerts with speeches as a campaign tool.

[122
6889,6890,55,3072,1582,71
134
post-6713","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-2027-presidential-campaign","tag-antiracist-music-festival","tag-france","tag-jean-luc-melenchon","tag-la-france-insoumise","tag-paris","nfg_topic-europe
["GET
