The Idaho State Journal reported the conviction.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors detailed how Al Majzoub picked up his victim on August 6, 2024, then drove her to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her. The suspect was apprehended quickly thanks to the victim&#8217;s friends who became concerned when she failed to arrive home within the expected timeframe after texting them that she was traveling in a Lyft vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>A friend contacted police after noticing the victim had been gone for significantly longer than the trip should have taken. A location tracking application showed the victim in an unfamiliar area, prompting the friend to alert authorities that something appeared wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The Ada County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office credited the swift response in a social media statement, noting that the friends&#8217; quick action enabled law enforcement to locate the defendant without delay.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealTheoWold\/status\/2064493959628353860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Ada County Prosecutor <strong>Jan Bennetts<\/strong> thanked the jury for their careful attention to the evidence presented during the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Al Majzoub faces sentencing on September 9.<\/p>\n<p>The case bears striking similarities to another sexual assault committed by a rideshare driver in Texas last year. In that incident, as <em>Breitbart News<\/em> reports, migrant <strong>Sameh Chami<\/strong>, working as an Uber driver, picked up a female passenger in the early morning hours in Galveston, drove her to a remote location, and sexually assaulted her.<\/p>\n<p>That victim&#8217;s family also quickly contacted police when she failed to return home at the expected time after being picked up from a bar by the Uber driver.<\/p>\n<p>Rideshare companies have faced a flood of sexual assault allegations against their drivers.
