Marquita Marie Rice<\/strong>, 31, allegedly waited in concealment near her ex-husband’s garage before opening fire on him multiple times on March 1 at approximately 4 p.m. local time, according to New York Post<\/em>. The victim, whose identity has not been released, survived the attack despite sustaining critical injuries and being rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

Security footage reportedly captured Rice dressed in black, positioned behind a wall adjacent to the garage. The video shows her lying in wait after a pizza delivery arrived at the residence. When her former spouse emerged to investigate the unsolicited delivery, Rice allegedly began shooting. She then fled the scene before returning to fire additional rounds at the wounded man.<\/p>\n

Dallas Police investigators determined the shooting was premeditated after confirming the victim had not ordered any pizza to his home. The fake delivery served as bait to lure him outside into the ambush.<\/p>\n

Cross-Country Manhunt Ends in North Carolina<\/h2>\n

Rice evaded capture for nearly three months before being apprehended on May 26 in Wake County, North Carolina, over 1,000 miles from the crime scene. Dallas authorities did not officially document the arrest until June 10.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement tracked Rice through distinctive taillights on her Chevrolet Trax, the vehicle she used to flee Dallas. Detective Michael Bui<\/strong> told FOX 4 that the suspect attempted to evade detection by driving extensively across multiple states following the shooting, traveling between Georgia, Dallas, Savannah, and Raleigh.<\/p>\n

The arrest in Wake Forest, located just north of Raleigh, was conducted jointly by local police and the United States Marshals Service. Rice appeared in Wake County court the following day, May 27, where she declined extradition back to Texas.<\/p>\n

She is currently being held on $1 million bond with her next court appearance scheduled for June 25.<\/p>\n
