Taiwan initially test-fired the Lockheed Martin-manufactured HIMARS last year along its eastern coastline. The system’s deployment to the western shore carries heightened strategic significance, as military analysts identify Taiwan’s west coast beaches and coastal flats as the most probable landing zones for any Chinese amphibious assault.<\/p>\n

The same rocket artillery system has proven decisive in Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression, establishing itself as one of Kyiv’s primary strike platforms throughout the ongoing conflict.<\/p>\n

Asymmetric Warfare Strategy<\/h2>\n

Taiwan’s defense modernization centers on asymmetric warfare doctrine, prioritizing mobile, lethal weapons systems that transform the island into what military planners describe as a defensive “porcupine” capable of withstanding Chinese military aggression.<\/p>\n

With an effective range of approximately 300 kilometers, HIMARS positioned on Taiwan can reach coastal targets throughout China’s Fujian province on the opposite side of the Taiwan Strait.<\/p>\n
