The suspension will remain in effect pending a special secret ballot vote by the court&#8217;s 125 member states that will ultimately determine his future at the institution.<\/p>\n<p>The Assembly&#8217;s decision drew from a comprehensive investigation conducted by the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services, supporting evidence, recommendations from an ad hoc panel of judicial experts, and written submissions from involved parties.<\/p>\n<p>The Bureau emphasized in its statement that all related documentation would remain confidential while calling for respect for the privacy and rights of all parties concerned, as well as the integrity of the ongoing process.<\/p>\n<p>For two years, the ICC prosecutor has faced legal filings and investigations alleging he committed sexual misconduct against a female ICC aide. The woman&#8217;s complaints detailed that <strong>Khan<\/strong> allegedly engaged in coercive and non-consensual sexual behavior against her on multiple occasions over an extended timeframe. Khan has consistently denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>He received a partial suspension from his position in 2025 while the investigations proceeded and continues on leave.<\/p>\n<p>According to a copy of the U.N. investigation report reviewed by the Associated Press, <strong>Khan<\/strong> had nonconsensual sexual contact with the aide in his office, at his private residence, and while on mission. However, a three-judge panel selected by the executive committee to provide legal assessment of the findings determined the investigation was not conclusive enough.<\/p>\n<p>Khan&#8217;s legal team condemned the suspension as unlawful, procedurally unfair and unsupported by evidence in a statement released to international media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>The 56-year-old British-born lawyer has become the public face of the ICC&#8217;s campaign to prosecute Israeli Prime Minister <strong>Benjamin Netanyahu<\/strong> over Israel&#8217;s self-defense operations against the jihadist terror organization Hamas. Reporting from 2024 indicated that <strong>Khan<\/strong> allegedly pressured an unnamed woman into refusing cooperation with the sexual harassment investigations. In May 2024, <strong>Khan<\/strong> requested international arrest warrants against <strong>Netanyahu<\/strong> and Israeli Defense Minister <strong>Yoav Gallant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive interview with <em>Breitbart News<\/em> in August 2025, Israeli Prime Minister <strong>Benjamin Netanyahu<\/strong> said that <strong>Khan<\/strong> chose to <em>hit the Jews<\/em> when the sexual misconduct allegations against the prosecutor emerged.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"rumble\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v6vyveg\/?pub=he97b\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Netanyahu<\/strong> explained to <em>Breitbart News<\/em> that <strong>Khan<\/strong> moved against Israel in an apparent attempt to divert attention from the sexual abuse investigations targeting him. Neither Israel nor the United States maintains membership in the ICC.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli leader argued that <strong>Khan<\/strong> believed targeting the Prime Minister of the Jewish state would rally extreme progressives to his defense, as they would automatically oppose Israel rather than scrutinize his conduct. <strong>Netanyahu<\/strong> characterized the charges against Israel as completely false and motivated by <strong>Khan&#8217;s<\/strong> desire to escape the sexual assault allegations.<\/p>\n<p>President <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> first sanctioned the ICC during his initial term after the court prosecuted U.S. soldiers. Former President <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong> removed those sanctions during his administration.
