The operation involves a coordinated strategy of blockades, demonstrations, traffic obstructions and street barriers designed to prevent delegates from accessing the venue and sabotaging the event.

While the action is being presented as a broad civil society alliance resisting the AfD, the reality is far more calculated. Behind this supposedly peaceful coalition, left-wing extremists are pulling the strings, attempting to disrupt the party congress with violent acts while hiding behind the protective facade of mainstream society support.

Left Party Operatives Coordinate Behind the Scenes

Junge Freiheit conducted an undercover investigation to identify the actors behind the planned blockade actions and their strategies. Preparations have been running at full speed since mid-April, when the “Widersetzen” alliance held its kickoff meeting in Erfurt at the end of that month.

At that gathering of approximately one hundred self-styled activists from the Antifa milieu, the strategy became clear. Representatives from Linksjugend Solid, the youth organization of the Left Party, were present and setting the political agenda. They instructed activists to conduct door-to-door visits in Erfurt to alert residents about the upcoming party congress.

The instructions were explicit and deceptive. Activists were told not to identify themselves as Antifa or members of the left-wing “Widersetzen” alliance. Instead, they should present themselves as participants of the “Weltoffenes Thüringen” alliance, wear situation-appropriate clothing, be exceptionally polite, and attempt to warn people about the supposed dangers of the AfD in a friendly but firm manner.

Social Democrats Criticized for Insufficient Radicalism

Following the organizational meeting, several Left Party operatives continued discussions at local bars, which a Junge Freiheit reporter attended undercover. A major topic of conversation was frustration with the Social Democratic Party. While many SPD members maintain close cooperation with the radical left, their representatives were exercising too much restraint in the blockade planning, being criticized as too aligned with state institutions.

The result will be a two-tier protest structure on July 4. Established left-wing forces including trade unions, the SPD and the Greens will conduct demonstrations, while the more radical “Widersetzen” alliance will take primary responsibility for organizing the blockade operations.

Communist-Linked Organization Serves as Public Face

Left Party members will conduct much of the coordination for the sabotage actions behind the scenes while deliberately avoiding public identification as directly involved. That role has been assigned to other groups, particularly the VVN-BdA, the Association of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime and Antifascists.

Thomas Willms, the federal executive director of VVN-BdA who also writes for the Antifa Infoblatt, is listed as the responsible party on the “Widersetzen” alliance homepage. The DKP-affiliated organization has its offices at Magdalenenstrasse 19 in Berlin, located directly next to the former headquarters of the East German Ministry for State Security, now a museum.

The VVN-BdA was long considered left-wing extremist by constitutional protection authorities, though the federal office no longer lists it as an observation subject. The Bavarian State Office for the Protection of the Constitution continues to classify the VVN-BdA as influenced by left-wing extremism. The organization lost its charitable status in 2019.

Until 1989, the VVN-BdA was substantially financed and politically sustained by the SED regime of East Germany. The organization was also a co-initiator of the nationwide initiative “Aufstehen gegen Rassismus.” Today, the SED successors in the Left Party continue to supply the organization with donations.

Housing Syndicate Provides Infrastructure for Extremists

The organization’s offices are part of a project of the Mietshäuser-Syndikat, a participation company for the acquisition of houses independent of capital markets, which it subsequently transfers into collective ownership. The Housing Syndicate functions as a kind of umbrella organization for the illegal squatter scene, from which numerous left-wing extremist actors are recruited.

The syndicate converts unlawfully occupied houses into legal housing projects, thereby securing valuable retreats for the left-wing extremist scene. Numerous left-wing extremist groups use this type of property acquisition to obtain operational headquarters or accommodation for their militant comrades.

With information from Junge Freiheit

Left-wing extremists are organizing blockades with up to 50,000 protesters against the AfD party congress on July 4, 2026 in Erfurt, with Left Party operatives coordinating behind the scenes.

[122
9,854,5665,5666,25,5668,5667
134
post-5185","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-afd","tag-alternative-for-germany","tag-erfurt","tag-far-left-extremism","tag-germany","tag-political-blockade","tag-taxpayer-funded-cultural-center","nfg_topic-europe
["GET
