He has also admitted to sexting women soon after his wedding and has been caught mocking Purple Heart recipients while calling Army soldiers “fat, lazy trash” in language that appeared to wish them harm.

Platner’s documented statements include slandering rural Americans as racist and unintelligent, as well as making derogatory remarks about black Americans. Additional crude personal behavior has emerged in leaked communications.

Democrats Circle the Wagons

Despite the mounting controversies, Democratic Party leadership has rallied behind their candidate. Senator Bernie Sanders, acting as Platner’s political patron, deflected questions about the scandals by suggesting focus should remain on policy issues facing Americans.

The personal misconduct, however damaging, may pale in comparison to Platner’s political ideology, as New York Post reports. The candidate has openly embraced communism, an ideology responsible for the deaths of 100 million people during the 20th century while oppressing and impoverishing countless others.

Most disturbing is Platner’s decision to sport a tattoo resembling those worn by Hitler’s SS at concentration camps where 6 million Jews perished during the Holocaust. The irony is stark: Democrats who have reflexively labeled political opponents as fascists now appear unable or unwilling to recognize actual Nazi symbolism within their own ranks.

The New Wave Left’s Dangerous Direction

Platner represents what observers are calling the New Wave left, a coalition that includes extremists, socialists, and Islamist sympathizers. This movement presents itself as a modern Robin Hood crusade against fabricated oppression while promoting failed economic policies that foster racial division, class resentment, and government dependency.

This emerging left faction appears hostile to Western exceptionalism, the very system that has enriched and liberated billions globally more successfully than any civilization in history. Even America’s poorest citizens today enjoy greater wealth than over 90 percent of the world’s population.

A decade ago, a candidate with Platner’s background would have been immediately rejected by the Democratic Party. His current acceptance signals a dramatic shift in party values and direction.

A Weak Bench and Leftward Lunge

The Democratic Party faces a serious talent shortage. Working-class voters, the party’s core base since the New Deal era, are abandoning the Democrats in significant numbers. Seven out of ten voters now view the party as too extreme and disconnected from mainstream concerns.

Rather than returning to centrist positions, party leadership has chosen to lunge further toward socialist ideology, driven by its activist base. This decision comes despite the movement’s lack of practical experience in wealth creation or business development.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender before her 2018 congressional election. Bernie Sanders has spent virtually his entire career as a government official. These leaders understand redistribution but lack expertise in the innovation, discovery, and growth that actually expand economic prosperity.

Consequences for Democrats

The Platner situation exposes several vulnerabilities for the Democratic Party heading into election season. First, the thin bench will continue attracting novices, activists, and extremists rather than serious candidates with substantive qualifications. Adam Hamawy, who won a Democratic nomination in New Jersey with backing from Democratic socialists despite alleged terrorist links, exemplifies this trend.

Second, Democrats nationwide will face persistent questions about supporting a candidate with Nazi tattoos, communist sympathies, and connections to Hamas supporters. Senator Chris Murphy‘s awkward dodging of such questions demonstrates how this issue will plague party members who appear weak and out of touch when they refuse to address it directly.

Third, the double standard is glaring. Democratic voices that condemned every perceived transgression by former President Trump now remain silent or dismissive regarding one of their own candidates facing far more serious allegations.

Finally, the Platner phenomenon highlights the cowardice of moderate Democrats. Even centrist figures like Senator Chuck Schumer, who previously championed middle-ground positions during his House career, now stay silent when principle demands they speak.

The Democratic Party’s handling of the Platner candidacy may prove instructive for voters evaluating where the party stands on basic standards of character, judgment, and ideological boundaries.

With information from New York Post

Democrats are backing Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner despite allegations of domestic violence, admissions of infidelity, offensive statements about veterans and minorities, and communist sympathies.

[122
790,5589,2497,2495,2903,4692,209
137
post-5098","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-democratic-party","tag-domestic-violence-allegations","tag-graham-platner","tag-maine","tag-military-veterans","tag-senate-race","tag-united-states","nfg_topic-culture-wars
["GET
