Security priorities include event venues, the Pope&#8217;s accommodations, transit corridors, emergency infrastructure, and critical facilities.<\/p>\n<h2>Tailored Security Windows Across Spain<\/h2>\n<p>As <em>Brussels Signal<\/em> reports, the security plan has been customized for each location on the papal itinerary. Madrid will be under heightened security from midnight June 6 through 1:30pm on June 9. Barcelona follows from 7am on June 9 until 8am on June 11. The Canary Islands phase runs from midnight June 11 until the papal aircraft exits Spanish airspace on June 12.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout these windows, the operation will function at maximum alert level, coordinated with Spain&#8217;s anti-terrorism posture currently set at level 4, described as reinforced.<\/p>\n<h2>Massive Deployment of Personnel and Equipment<\/h2>\n<p>The Interior Ministry confirmed that immediate papal security falls to the National Police, while the Guardia Civil, Mossos d&#8217;Esquadra, local forces, and Canary Islands police handle broader operational coverage. The Mossos alone will field more than 6,100 officers for the Barcelona segment.<\/p>\n<p>The deployment encompasses over 1,000 ground vehicles and 16 aircraft.
