{"id":395,"date":"2026-04-15T11:43:45","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T08:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsfire.gr\/en\/?p=395"},"modified":"2026-05-17T11:37:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T08:37:24","slug":"us-imposes-harsh-sanctions-on-iran-strictly-warning-banks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsfire.gr\/en\/us-imposes-harsh-sanctions-on-iran-strictly-warning-banks\/","title":{"rendered":"US Imposes Harsh Sanctions on Iran, Strictly Warning Banks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The United States warned on Tuesday that it will unleash its full \u201cEconomic Fury\u201d against Iran by ending the temporary suspension of sanctions on Iranian oil at sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>They also threatened to take action against foreign banks supporting Iran\u2019s terrorist activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After the first day of the U.S. blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. Treasury Department signaled that it will not renew the 30-day exemption on sanctions for Iranian oil at sea, which expires this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Treasury is acting aggressively with Economic Fury, maintaining maximum pressure on Iran,\u201d the agency said in a statement, referring to Operation Epic Fury, the current U.S. military campaign in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe short-term authorization allowing the sale of Iranian oil already held at sea is set to expire in a few days and will not be renewed,\u201d the department stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Treasury had allowed approximately 140 million barrels of Iranian oil at sea to continue their shipments on March 20 to mitigate the surge in fuel prices caused by the war.<\/p>\n<p>The exemption expires on April 19.
