According to Breitbart News, Trump took to Truth Social to reject mounting criticism of the framework, describing detractors as “losers”<\/em> attacking an agreement they have not seen and do not understand. The President emphasised that his administration’s emerging deal would represent “THE EXACT OPPOSITE”<\/em> of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which handed Tehran billions in sanctions relief while preserving a pathway to nuclear capability.<\/p>\n

Trump<\/strong> wrote that any agreement negotiated under his administration would be fundamentally different from the Obama deal, which he described as having given Iran “massive amounts of CASH, and a clear and open path to a Nuclear Weapon.” He stressed that the emerging framework remains under negotiation and urged critics not to prejudge its terms.<\/p>\n

In a separate post earlier Sunday, Trump reiterated that negotiations were proceeding in “an orderly and constructive manner” but stressed he had instructed negotiators “not to rush into a deal” because “time is on our side.” He warned that the United States naval blockade against Iran would remain “in full force and effect” until any agreement is finalised and signed.<\/p>\n

Senior administration officials spent Sunday briefing reporters on the structure of a proposed memorandum of understanding that would reportedly reopen the Strait of Hormuz, extend the current ceasefire for 60 days, and launch broader follow-on negotiations focused on dismantling Iran’s nuclear programme and removing its enriched uranium stockpile, Breitbart News reports.<\/p>\n

According to multiple reports citing administration officials, negotiators believe Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei<\/strong> has approved the “broad template” of the framework, under which Tehran has agreed “in principle” to dispose of its enriched uranium stockpile while negotiating a longer-term suspension and oversight framework governing enrichment and broader nuclear activity.<\/p>\n

Officials described the agreement as roughly 95 percent complete, though they cautioned the framework could still collapse as both sides continue haggling over final language, implementation details, and verification mechanisms.<\/p>\n

‘No dust, no dollars’<\/h2>\n

Administration officials repeatedly emphasised Sunday that Iran would receive no upfront sanctions relief, unfrozen assets, or broader economic concessions unless it fully complied with the agreement’s nuclear provisions.<\/p>\n

One senior administration official told reporters: “No dust, no dollars”<\/em> \u2014 a reference to what Trump has frequently called Iran’s “nuclear dust,” referring to its highly enriched uranium stockpile. Another official made clear that the arrangement would operate on a performance-based model: “The more they do, the more they get. If Iran doesn’t perform, they don’t get anything.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Under the proposed framework, the Strait of Hormuz would first be reopened and Iran would be required to remove naval mines from the critical shipping lane, Breitbart News reports. The United States would gradually loosen its blockade on Iranian ports proportionate to Tehran’s compliance.<\/p>\n

During the proposed 60-day framework, negotiators would then work toward a broader agreement focused on dismantling Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, removing both highly enriched and lower-enriched uranium stockpiles, and negotiating a longer-term moratorium on uranium enrichment.<\/p>\n

Rubio defends Trump’s diplomacy push<\/h2>\n

Secretary of State Marco Rubio<\/strong> defended the negotiations on Sunday amid mounting criticism from several Republican lawmakers and conservative commentators, some of whom have warned the emerging framework could resemble the Obama-era JCPOA.<\/p>\n

Speaking during remarks in India, Rubio rejected the comparison and vouched for the President’s track record on Iran. He stated that there is “no one who has been stronger on this issue than President Trump,”<\/em> according to Breitbart News, dismissing the notion that the administration would agree to a deal that ultimately benefits Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.<\/p>\n
