(ANGELA WEISS\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Action and Reactions<\/h2>\n<p>According to a Reuters report, Jonathan Pratt, a senior official at the US Department of State, informed the House Foreign Affairs Committee that it is time for less talk and more action:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Trump administration is developing a plan to encourage and compel the Nigerian government to better protect Christian communities and improve religious freedom.<\/p>\n<p>This plan will consider collaboration between the Departments of State and Treasury on sanctions, as well as the potential involvement of the Department of Defense in counterterrorism issues and other efforts to protect religious communities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Washington is focusing on the security provided by the Nigerian government, how it deploys its resources, and on coordinated intelligence sharing.<\/p>\n<h2>Strategies for Addressing the Crisis<\/h2>\n<p>Trump has reinstated Nigeria on the &#8220;Countries of Particular Concern&#8221; list for violating religious freedom. Moreover, he has asked the Department of Defense to prepare plans for &#8220;swift&#8221; military action if the Nigerian government fails to manage the massacre of Christians.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Yes sir.<\/p>\n<p>The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria \u2014 and anywhere \u2014 must end immediately. The Department of War is preparing for action. Either the Nigerian Government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/C0v9RHGoS1\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/C0v9RHGoS1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Pete Hegseth (@PeteHegseth) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PeteHegseth\/status\/1984751436102791607?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">November 1, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <strong>Pentagon<\/strong> recently showed <strong>support for persecuted Christian communities<\/strong> at the same time that numerous media outlets reported the <strong>kidnapping of many students<\/strong> by armed men from a Catholic school in the central region of the country.<\/p>\n<p>This attack happened at the <strong>St. Mary\u2019s School in Niger state<\/strong>, where authorities had already ordered the temporary closure of all boarding schools due to increasing threats from attacks resembling previous <strong>jihadist assaults<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\">The local news outlet <strong>Arise TV<\/strong> reported that <strong>52 students<\/strong> were abducted.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Global Religious Persecution<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Christians are the most persecuted religious group worldwide<\/strong>, with more than <strong>310 million followers of Christ<\/strong> subjected to <strong>extreme conditions of persecution<\/strong>, as reported by the <strong>UN<\/strong> in <strong>March<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In many countries, Christians are <strong>arbitrarily arrested, attacked, abused, and murdered<\/strong> because of their faith. Bias against Christians has been called <strong>&#8220;the last acceptable prejudice,&#8221;<\/strong> a phenomenon few condemn or acknowledge.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;No one cares if it offends Christians&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>, wrote a group of African American fathers in a 2019 essay.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In fact, mocking and disparaging the Christian faith has become somewhat fashionable in our culture. Bias against Christians is truly the last acceptable prejudice.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;The hypocrisy is astounding,&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> the fathers stated.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Christianity is the dominant religion of our country. It is the foundation of our government and our morals.
