The Newark MP detailed how his party would target £50 billion in welfare reductions, axe a further £20-30 billion from leftist initiatives including net zero schemes and foreign aid whilst trimming the bloated civil service, and seek to reduce government debt interest payments by £28 billion.

Jenrick argued that these cuts would not only calm jittery financial markets but would enable the party to deliver substantial tax relief to British families groaning under the heaviest tax burden since World War Two.

The Shadow Chancellor did not mince words when taking aim at Burnham’s credentials. Andy Burnham said we did not need to be in hock to the bond markets but that is precisely where he has found himself in a matter of weeks, Jenrick told The Telegraph, adding that wearing a t-shirt and projecting northern charm was insufficient to convince markets of a credible economic strategy.

Welfare Overhaul: No More Something for Nothing

Reform has previously signalled its intention to dramatically reduce the welfare bill by barring most foreign nationals from receiving benefits the party insists were designed exclusively for British citizens.

Jenrick stated last month that excluding migrants — including settled EU citizens granted residency rights during Brexit — from national welfare rolls would save £21 billion per year by 2029, equivalent to £700 per household.

The party also plans to roll back welfare spending on those claiming health-related benefits to pre-COVID levels, with Farage repeatedly highlighting the ballooning numbers of Britons being paid not to work for questionable conditions such as anxiety.

Additionally, Reform has outlined proposals requiring the hundreds of thousands of people who have been unemployed for over a year to work on government projects as a condition of receiving welfare payments.

Jenrick painted a stark picture of the unfairness facing working Britons. He described constituents who rise early, prepare their children for school, labour hard all day in places like distribution centres, and then struggle to pay mounting bills — only to live next door to someone on benefits with curtains drawn, a Motability car on the drive, and takeaway deliveries arriving regularly. Under Reform, he insisted, there will be no more something for nothing.

Bond Markets Balk at Burnham’s Spending Plans

The Reform announcement arrives as interest rates on government debt hit 5.91 per cent this week, the highest level in nearly thirty years. Bond markets have grown increasingly nervous over Burnham’s plans to accelerate public spending in order to fund his ambitions of redistributing resources to regions outside London.

With information from Breitbart

Reform UK announced plans to cut £108 billion from government spending in 100 days, targeting welfare, net zero schemes, and civil service costs amid Britain’s borrowing crisis.

[122
5949,12906,3819,18,15,11807,48
134
post-17219","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-andy-burnham","tag-budget-cuts","tag-government-spending","tag-nigel-farage","tag-reform-uk","tag-robert-jenrick","tag-united-kingdom","nfg_topic-europe
["GET
