The league recently announced plans to continue its so-called anti-racism campaign for a seventh consecutive year, featuring social justice messaging on sidelines and helmet decals, according to Breitbart News<\/em>.<\/p>\n

However, Kaepernick<\/strong> has dismissed these efforts as little more than corporate marketing, questioning the sincerity behind Commissioner Roger Goodell’s<\/strong> public statements on racism and player concerns about Black Lives Matter activism.<\/p>\n

The former San Francisco 49ers player characterized Goodell’s response as driven purely by player pressure rather than genuine conviction. He described the commissioner’s apology for failing to listen to players earlier as laughable and disingenuous, as Breitbart News<\/em> reports.<\/p>\n

Kaepernick pointed to what he calls years of attempting to address his removal from the league. To come out and say we should have listened on the back of that \u2014 while I’m still actively trying to play in the NFL \u2014 it’s so performative,<\/em> he stated.<\/p>\n

The quarterback became a lightning rod for controversy in 2016 when he refused to stand during the national anthem before games, staging protests throughout the entire season. After becoming a free agent at the season’s conclusion, no NFL team signed him, effectively ending his professional playing career.<\/p>\n

Marketing Over Substance<\/h2>\n

Kaepernick also took aim at visible anti-racism displays in NFL stadiums, dismissing end zone slogans as marketing campaigns devoid of meaningful action behind them.<\/p>\n

He further accused the league of practicing so-called race norming during the same period it was promoting social justice messaging on the field. This practice allegedly assumed Black players started their careers with lower cognitive function to deny them payments stemming from a 2013 concussion lawsuit. The NFL discontinued the practice in 2021.<\/p>\n

Despite public commitments to social justice causes, Kaepernick maintains the NFL has not changed in any material way. He asserted that league actions demonstrate a return to business as usual, which he characterized as a tragedy enabled by public tolerance of such behavior.<\/p>\n
