Gender Equality and Domestic Violence<\/h2>\n

The first section addresses gender equality, stating that women possess the same rights as men and may work, study, travel, choose their spouse, and make their own decisions. The Home Office emphasizes that a woman does not require permission from her husband, father, or brother to make these choices. The guide classifies domestic violence, threats, physical or verbal abuse, and controlling behavior toward a partner as illegal conduct.<\/p>\n

Explicit Instructions on Sexual Consent<\/h2>\n

The document becomes particularly explicit when addressing sexual relations. The Home Office states that having sex with someone without their consent constitutes rape, which is a serious crime in the United Kingdom. The guide emphasizes that consent must be given freely and can be withdrawn at any time.<\/p>\n

Facing the backlash, Prime Minister Andy Burnham<\/strong> did not disavow the Home Office approach. On the contrary, he defended the measure, arguing that British rules must be clearly explained to people arriving in the country, particularly regarding the treatment of women and girls. He also reminded that individuals who break the law are subject to removal from the United Kingdom, noting that deportations have increased significantly.<\/p>\n
