From the Ballot Box to the Consulate in Komotini \u2013 The New Administration of Religious Officials Received the \u201cAnointment\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a move that offends public sentiment and violates every principle of diplomatic law, the Turkish Consul in Komotini, Aykut \u00dcnal<\/b>, rushed to grant official \u201cstatus\u201d to a para-religious structure functioning as an extension of Ankara in Thrace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a purely anti-diplomatic action<\/b>, as a foreign diplomat directly intervenes in the internal affairs of the Muslim minority, supporting an entity that challenges the official institutions of the Greek state.<\/p>\n

The path from the sham ballot box to the official offices proved remarkably short for the new administration of the Association of Religious Officials of Western Thrace Mosques<\/b>.<\/p>\n

After the elections held on April 22 at the headquarters of the illegally operating Turkish Youth of Komotini (GTGB) \u2014 where the pro-consulate Erol Yolu\u00e7<\/b> emerged first with 88 votes \u2014 the new body hurried to complete the cycle of \u201cnecessary\u201d meetings.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Thursday, April 30, the delegation of religious officials crossed the threshold of the Turkish Consulate in Komotini<\/b>, where they were received by Consul Aykut \u00dcnal<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The visit was sealed with the customary post on the Consulate\u2019s social media, officially \u201cblessing\u201d the new leadership for their term.<\/p>\n

Soon after, the delegation visited \u0130brahim \u015eerif<\/b> at his office. There, in an atmosphere of full alignment, views were exchanged regarding the future activities of the association, with the head of the pseudo-muftiate wishing \u201cstrength\u201d for the new administration\u2019s duties, which \u2014 as all evidence suggests \u2014 remain closely linked to Ankara\u2019s agenda in the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n
