Anja Kohl<\/strong>, the finance and stock market expert for ARD \u2014 Germany’s flagship public broadcaster \u2014 has extended her television presence far beyond her nominal area of expertise, according to Alexander Kissler writing in Nius<\/em>. The Aschaffenburg native now appears regularly on political talk shows, where she fulfils what Kissler describes as the role of a “left-wing concerned citizen,” despite repeated factual errors that would likely disqualify commentators with less acceptable political viewpoints.<\/p>\n

Embarrassing Blunders Edited Out<\/h2>\n

Kohl’s most recent gaffe occurred during an appearance on Bavarian broadcaster BR’s “Sonntagsstammtisch” programme, where she demanded that the Alternative for Germany party distance itself from Antifa violence at the margins of an AfD party conference. The problem: Kohl had apparently confused the situation entirely, believing right-wing demonstrators had harassed left-wing journalists when the opposite had occurred.<\/p>\n

Where Kohl demonstrates complete confidence is in warnings about right-wing parties. She has repeatedly stated that the AfD lacks economic competence \u2014 a legitimate political opinion, but one that notably avoids examining whether the current government coalition demonstrates any greater capability.<\/p>\n

Most strikingly, Kohl has offered effusive praise for SPD party chairman Lars Klingbeil<\/strong>, attributing to him an “integral character” and “high sense of responsibility” in terms that Kissler suggests even Klingbeil’s own party colleagues would find excessive.<\/p>\n
