The organization’s board approved the policy change on Thursday, reversing a decision made over a decade ago to expand the group’s mission to include transgender activism, according to Breitbart News<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Ross Hemminger<\/strong>, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, explained in an op-ed published by Townhall that the group can no longer support the trajectory taken by transgender activists, particularly their increasing emphasis on targeting children.<\/p>\n

The board originally voted in 2015 to incorporate transgender advocacy into the organization’s portfolio, believing that adults should be free to pursue their own happiness without government interference so long as individual liberty does not infringe upon others’ inalienable rights.<\/p>\n

However, Hemminger noted that the transgender movement has abandoned its focus on adult issues almost entirely. Instead, activists and allied special interest groups now concentrate nearly all their efforts on minors, pushing schools to adopt radical gender ideology curricula, demanding biological males be permitted to compete in women’s sports regardless of the impact, and most troublingly, advocating for gender reassignment treatments for children\u2014often without parental knowledge or consent\u2014despite these interventions being largely irreversible.<\/p>\n

Return to Core Mission<\/h2>\n

The board has therefore voted to restrict the national organization’s work to matters of sexual orientation paired with conservative values, formally redefining itself as an LGB advocacy organization.<\/p>\n

The group’s renewed priorities will center on same-sex marriage, adoption rights, military service, religious freedom, and equal protection under the law.<\/p>\n

Hemminger stated that the decision reaffirms the organization’s core mission of fighting for the right to marry, serve the country openly, and enjoy the same constitutional protections afforded to all Americans.<\/p>\n

Membership and Political Alignment<\/h2>\n

The policy shift will not affect membership eligibility. The Log Cabin Republicans will continue welcoming all conservatives to join, including transgender individuals.<\/p>\n

The organization endorsed President Donald Trump<\/strong> in both the 2020 and 2024 elections, having withheld its endorsement in 2016.<\/p>\n

Trump has consistently opposed sex-change procedures for minors and the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports. His administration has also moved to remove transgender individuals from military service.<\/p>\n
