The status of being defeated, excluded, “invisible,” a minority, or self-proclaimed “oppressed” automatically and incomprehensibly grants one justice, legitimacy, and immunity that transcend rules, logic, and criticism (“…I take the oath I want because I am a humanitarian,” “…quotas are mandatory for members of vulnerable groups,” “…if you are not inclusive, you lack empathy and are a misanthrope”).

From illegally displayed Palestinian flags on public buildings, political banners on the Acropolis, to occupations and vandalism of university, public, and private buildings, the squandering of public resources on various “vulnerable” groups, and the justification of delinquent/criminal behavior in the name of resistance to social and class injustice, rationality and the application of proper law have given way. Furthermore, the crudeness and “intervention” of every troublemaker has unofficially been elevated to fertile and primary expressions of political action.

And as we support and subsidize, as a society and state, those who consider themselves pitiful victims, inevitably we identify with the latter and in practice oppose the former. On what logic do we recognize even the last-place finisher in an Olympic final as the “eighth Olympic medalist”? Since when have we ceased to embrace Homer’s exhortation “always strive for excellence” and judged participation as equivalent to success?

The voluntary or even imposed retreat from the obvious definition of concepts based on established social practice has led to the relativization of everything: the definition of gender, the precision of language and described concepts, the extent and imposition of penalties, hierarchical relationships in professional environments and associated professional rights, scientific conclusions, the value of institutions, democratic principles, university rankings, the notion of citizenship and national identity, the single-dimensional use of places of worship, the use of public spaces and businesses, and so forth—all of which have suffered appalling distortion. All this to avoid upsetting the few, the unreasonable, those offended by the truth of nature and the obvious rationality of statistics.

Led by the ideological Left obsessed with pseudonymous struggles and so-called humanitarianism, and the culpable tolerance of politically correct individualistic liberalism, Greek society seems no longer to have any dilemma regarding its agenda. It defines its identity not through creation but through self-victimization, vague “resistance”—even when the opponent is the very concept of progress, rule of law, and excellence. In other words, it has normalized misery. Today, being a “winner,” “strong,” “responsible,” or “pioneer” is considered almost suspicious. If a group or a people survive and excel, they are a priori considered “perpetrators” and deserving of ridicule. If someone excels, they are seen as bearing stigma, users of privilege rather than merit. A society that fears to praise the true Fighter, the Devout, the Law-abiding, the Honest, the Consistent, the Winner, the Excellent—and demeans them so that the arbitrary individual, provided they are a victim by leftist criteria, can feel comfortable—is a society that has given up on its future.

Solidarity with the weak is a clear sign of Civilization, but unconditional identification with every kind of shirker or failure—who self-identifies as vulnerable—is a clear sign of decline.

That is why the real revolution today is seriousness and consistency. Otherwise, Greece will remain trapped in disgrace, facing the future with the leftist fist raised against a fictional injustice.

* For this reason, we also look forward to and encourage a Greece different from the one of misery. One in which today’s 15-year-old Viktor Giannikopoulos and all worthy children of his generation can thrive and offer their best to themselves and their Homeland.

Contemporary Greece risks stagnation by valorizing victimhood over merit, undermining law, progress, and excellence, as societal praise shifts from achievement to grievance and identity politics.

[87
100,4024,102,153,103,104,152,101
134
post-154","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-opinion","tag-greece","tag-greece-conservative-parties","tag-left-wing-politics","tag-mediocracy","tag-olympics","tag-social-justice","tag-theodoros-giannakopoulos","tag-viktor-giannikopoulos","nfg_topic-europe
["GET
