The leading offenses included assault, driving under the influence, theft, and drug-related crimes. The operation catered to parents who traveled to the United States primarily to give birth and secure American citizenship for their children.<\/p>\n<p>While the State Department withheld names in several cases, some deportations were immediately recognizable as high-profile incidents already reported in the media. One such case involves <strong>Tou Lue Vang<\/strong>, a Laotian national who received a pardon from Minnesota Governor <strong>Tim Walz<\/strong> earlier this year for his 2005 child sexual abuse conviction. The Department of Homeland Security disregarded that pardon and proceeded with Vang&#8217;s deportation last month.<\/p>\n<p>The State Department emphasized that a U.S. visa is a privilege rather than a right, reaffirming its commitment to utilizing every available tool to protect American communities from those who abuse the system.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond targeted deportations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have established operations at airports nationwide to screen for foreign nationals who have overstayed their visas.<\/p>\n<p>While the administration intensifies enforcement against visa violators, it has simultaneously implemented dramatic reductions in certain visa categories. Between May and August of last year, Chinese applicants received 46 percent fewer F-1 student visas from the State Department compared to the same period in 2017, according to the Center for Immigration Studies.
