EU Special Envoy for Cyprus and European Commission Vice President <strong>Raffaele Fitto<\/strong> similarly left without optimism following his own engagement.<\/p>\n<h2>August Diplomacy Push Underway<\/h2>\n<p>The briefing to political parties confirmed that August will see intensive diplomatic efforts. Progress in three-way discussions between the two communities and the UN on confidence-building measures and contact methodology will determine whether an informal five-party meeting can take place in September or be pushed to a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Such a five-party meeting is considered an essential prerequisite for any substantive restart of negotiations on the island&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<h2>Turkish Cypriot Leader Signals Readiness<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Tufan Erhurman<\/strong>, leader in the Turkish Pseudostate in Northern Cyprus, also expressed readiness for negotiations on Monday through social media, stating he was prepared for a solution.
