Wes Streeting<\/strong> repeatedly dodged direct questions about whether foreign agents, particularly from Iran, could be among those crossing the Channel illegally in small boats, according to Georgia Pearce<\/strong> writing in GB News<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When pressed by host Dawn Neesom<\/strong> on whether he could guarantee to viewers that no terrorists have arrived via small boat crossings, Streeting deflected to discussing border measures and accused questioners of potentially spreading Iranian propaganda.<\/p>\n

The Defence Secretary claimed Britain has strong measures in place to assess arrivals and guard against security threats. However, when directly asked for a guarantee, he pivoted to warnings about Iranian propaganda efforts.<\/p>\n

So you can’t guarantee it basically, can you?<\/em> Neesom challenged the former Health Secretary during the exchange.<\/p>\n

Streeting responded by touting what he described as robust border measures and praised Britain’s domestic and international security services as “second to none” based on his first weeks in the Defence role.<\/p>\n

Yet when pressed a third time to confirm whether he could guarantee terrorists have not crossed the Channel, the Defence Secretary again avoided providing a direct answer, instead repeating general assertions about border security measures.<\/p>\n

The exchange highlights growing concerns over the security implications of the ongoing Channel migration crisis, with thousands continuing to make illegal crossings despite Labour’s pledges to address the issue.<\/p>\n

The government’s inability to provide categorical assurances on national security screening of illegal arrivals raises serious questions about gaps in border protection and the effectiveness of current vetting procedures.<\/p>\n
