The DSCC is backing former Representative <strong>Mary Peltola<\/strong> to challenge Senator <strong>Dan Sullivan<\/strong> in Alaska and Representative <strong>Chris Pappas<\/strong> of New Hampshire to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Senator <strong>Jeanne Shaheen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In Michigan, Representative <strong>Haley Stevens<\/strong>, Schumer&#8217;s favored candidate, is engaged in an intense primary battle scheduled for August 4 against progressive challenger <strong>Abdul el Sayed<\/strong>, though the DSCC has withheld an endorsement in that race. The committee has similarly declined to back a candidate in Florida, where state Representative <strong>Angela Nixon<\/strong> is competing against veteran <strong>Alex Vindman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The DSCC promoted its endorsed candidates on social media Monday, featuring Ossoff, Cooper, Brown, and Peltola prominently, followed by Turek, Talarico, and Pappas. Jackson, recently selected by Maine Democrats to replace <strong>Graham Platner<\/strong> who withdrew amid sexual assault allegations, appeared on a final slide alongside district attorney <strong>Scott Colom<\/strong>, the Democratic nominee in Mississippi\u2014a state notably excluded from the $40 million investment.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cook Political Report ratings, Alaska, Maine, Michigan, and Ohio are classified as toss-ups among the 10 targeted states. Florida represents an ambitious reach for Democrats, as Cook Political Report ranks it solidly Republican.
