The “How to Write a Constitution” workshop, held at the DSA’s Lower East Side headquarters, brought together roughly 25 activists to strategize the dismantling of core American institutions including the Senate, Supreme Court, Electoral College, and presidency, according to Gabrielle Fahmy, Sofia Poznansky, and Geoff Earle writing in New York Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Leading the session was Aziz Rana<\/strong>, a Boston College Law Professor born in Los Angeles whose middle name is Fidel and who spent his formative years in Kenya. Rana told the assembled radicals that the Constitution drives the country toward authoritarianism and blocks what he termed “Democratic change.”<\/p>\n

The law professor claimed the founding document contains a “deep undemocratic element” and alleged it “empowers the state to engage in various forms of violence.” He further argued the rights it establishes primarily benefit property holders.<\/p>\n

Rana has emerged as a regular speaker at DSA events nationwide. His 2024 book, “The Constitutional Bind: How Americans Came to Idolize a Document that Fails Them,” has been embraced by the organization as “a blueprint for the left to return to agitating.”<\/p>\n

Despite his revolutionary rhetoric, Rana lives the champagne socialist lifestyle. He and his wife Odette Lienau<\/strong>, who serves as dean of Boston College’s law school, reside in a $3.4 million mansion in Brookline, Massachusetts. Public records reveal the couple owns a second property in Ithaca, New York, valued above $700,000.<\/p>\n

The workshop attendees, who enjoyed a catered lunch featuring beef, lamb and chicken kebabs along with labneh and zaatar bread, eagerly embraced the anti-Constitution messaging.<\/p>\n

One participant declared the Constitution merely a rationalization of a pirate kingdom<\/em>, while others called for abolishing voter registration entirely and granting automatic voting rights to anyone over 18 with mental capacity.<\/p>\n

The attendees railed against what one termed “WASP mentality” and dismissed America’s founding principles as exploitative rationalization.<\/p>\n

The gathering comes as the DSA recently imposed stricter requirements on candidates seeking its endorsement, demanding full support for its radical agenda. This could test “Squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/strong> should she pursue the presidency in 2028.<\/p>\n

Critics sharply rebuked the constitutional abolition scheme. Gordon Sondland<\/strong>, who served as US ambassador to the European Union during the first Trump administration, defended the founders’ wisdom.<\/p>\n

“The Senate, Electoral College, and separation of powers weren’t bugs \u2014 they were features,” Sondland stated. “The Framers understood that majorities can be just as dangerous as monarchs. Every generation thinks it’s smarter than Madison until it finds itself in the political minority.”<\/p>\n

The workshop represents part of a broader nationwide leftist campaign to fundamentally transform American governance by eliminating the constitutional framework that has sustained the republic for nearly 250 years.<\/p>\n
