Single individuals and couples\u2014both heterosexual and homosexual\u2014routinely contract with women through surrogacy agencies, paying substantial sums for them to carry and deliver a child.<\/p>\n<p>Two primary forms of surrogacy exist: genetic surrogacy, where a woman uses her own eggs typically through artificial insemination, and gestational surrogacy, which involves assisted reproduction such as in vitro fertilization using donor eggs.<\/p>\n<p>As fertility rates decline and reproductive technologies expand, the surrogacy sector has encountered the ethical quandaries many predicted. Multiple documented cases have emerged of surrogate mothers alleging that intended parents pressured them to abort over factors including the child&#8217;s sex, detected birth defects, health complications affecting the surrogate, or simply because the contracting parties changed their minds about parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>Women who refuse such demands have frequently reported facing aggressive lawsuits and severe emotional distress regarding custody arrangements, as <em>Breitbart News<\/em> reports. Ogles&#8217;s office noted that determining the full scope of such coercion remains challenging because surrogacy disputes typically occur behind closed doors in private settlements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marilyn Musgrave<\/strong>, vice president of government affairs at Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, praised the legislation, asserting that women should never face pressure or coercion to have an abortion. She highlighted that research links abortion pressure to deteriorated mental health and emotional wellbeing in women, calling the issue one that should unite both parties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Penny Nance<\/strong>, CEO and president of Concerned Women for America, told <em>Breitbart News<\/em> that abortion invariably ends an innocent unborn life, and forced abortions within surrogacy arrangements are no exception. She warned that surrogacy too frequently places unborn children at abortion risk when diagnosed with particular complications.<\/p>\n<p>Nance stressed that Congress must pass Representative Ogles&#8217;s legislation to prevent children from being subjected to forced abortion when they fail to meet someone&#8217;s specifications. She rejected the treatment of children as commodities or products requiring perfection, describing them instead as gifts from God meant to be cherished by one man and one woman united in marriage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kelsey Reinhardt<\/strong>, president and CEO of CatholicVote, thanked Representative Ogles for defending both women and the unborn. She stated that every abortion treats woman and child as mere instruments, violating inherent dignity and exploiting women for an agenda centered on death.<\/p>\n<p>Reinhardt observed that coerced abortions often compound injustice, frequently involving domestic abuse, human trafficking, economic threats, or authoritarian policies.
