Egyptian arrested for attempted rape of minor in Maroussi
A 19-year-old Egyptian man was arrested by Greek police for attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl in a shopping center restroom in Maroussi after she escaped and alerted nearby officers.
A 19-year-old Egyptian national is in the hands of the Greek Police, accused of attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl inside a shopping center in Maroussi. The shocking incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, July 12, shortly after 11:00 PM, according to Dimokratia.
The incident
According to police evidence, the young Egyptian followed the minor to the building’s restrooms. There he trapped her in the space, removed his clothes and attempted to rape her.
The 14-year-old reacted vigorously, put up strong resistance and managed to escape from the hands of her attacker.
Immediate arrest by DIAS police officers
As soon as the near-victim of rape got outside, she immediately informed officers of the DIAS Unit, who were in the shopping center’s parking lot.
The uniformed officers reacted instantly, located the suspect and, after a foot chase, managed to immobilize him and handcuff him.
The arrested individual was taken to the Amaroussion Security Department, where a case file was opened against him for the felony of attempted rape.
